About Maxime Bouzidi

Maxime Bouzidi has a sensitive and pioneering audacity, the 360° curiosity and the joyfully respectful passion of the self-taught. Enthusiastic and cultured, he is as much anchored in reality as he is a convinced dreamer. The very personal journey that led him to open Signé is almost akin to wandering through the pages of a Patrick Modiano novel.

Ultra-sensitive to the context and sensory language of spaces, this native of Brittany spent the key years of his adolescence in London before coming to Paris where encounters led him to hunt for vintage Scandinavian furniture in Denmark, in the Netherlands or Belgium. By honing his eye in Nordic warehouses and multiplying interior decoration projects for private clients through which he learned about the design/manufacture of custom furniture, he naturally built up an impressive design culture — one which could only echo his passion for history. His personal pantheon includes André Arbus, Louis Kahn and Shiro Kuramata, as well as Finn Juhl, Radical Italian Design and Jasper Morrison. Or the writings of Michel Ragon on the history of architecture or Pierre Restany on “Objet-plus”. Result? The exact opposite of the flashiness of a certain wave of collectible design, Signé will propose, in limited series or not, singular pieces, designed by non-voluble designers.
